This elegant, richly colored antique-style world map features the incredible cartographic detail that is the trademark quality of National Geographic. The map features a Winkel Tripel Projection, which reduces distortion of land masses as they near the poles. Corner inset maps feature vegetation and land use, and population density.
The map is encapsulated in heavy-duty 1.7 mil laminate which makes the paper much more durable and resistant to the swelling and shrinking caused by changes in humidity. Laminated maps can be framed without the need for glass, so the frames can be much lighter and less expensive.
Premium Mounts are mounted on foamcore, with edge taping. Foamcore is a board of polystyrene foam clad with an outer facing of white clay-coated paper on either side. It is the preferred medium for using map tacks and map pins. Each premium mounted item comes with edge taping, hanging tabs, wall hangers, and nails for wall presentation.
